BitcoinSaving opened the public beta of its iPhone app on November 4. The app is called BitcoinSaving: DCA Calculator.

With a few taps, it simulates what a steady Bitcoin saving plan would have become in dollar terms.

The beta runs through Apple TestFlight. It is limited to 100 testers. Places go first come, first served.

The app answers one question with real numbers: what would a steady plan have done?

Users set an amount and a rhythm: hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly. Most importantly, users can swipe through the starting year. The app then replays that plan over Bitcoin’s actual daily prices.

One example from the company: a $20 daily plan started in 2016 put in $79,200 and accumulated 21.24 BTC at an average cost of $3,729. That’d be worth well over $1.5 million today.

“Most people do not buy Bitcoin once. They buy a little every week and then wonder whether it is working,” the BitcoinSaving team said. “We built the calculator we wanted for that question. It does not predict anything. It just shows, honestly, what steady saving did in the past. Bitcoin is the most powerful over a long time horizon.”

Charts show money in against value over time, how the stack built up, and how long a plan spent worth less than the cash paid in.

The beta also includes a 21-question Bitcoin quiz on history, economics, and fundamentals, and a news tab carrying headlines from Bitcoin Magazine, Bitbo, and Lightning News.

The full calculator works with no account. The one-time Premium unlock at $3.99 removes ads, adds saved plans with side-by-side comparison and future features like themes, rewards and more.

BitcoinSaving says the project is made for education purposes to provide the bitcoin community with a tool to simulate the long-term effects of saving in bitcoin.

Testers can sign up at the BitcoinSaving TestFlight page.
