- How did your passion for bitcoin lead to launching The Bitcoin Hardware Store?
I want to help average people understand bitcoin. There are lots of misconceptions about bitcoin and what it does and does not do. So I wanted to dispel all the myths and educate people.
- What gap in the bitcoin ecosystem inspired you to create a dedicated hardware store?
A place to try out and compare the different hardware options, similar to the apple store but dedicated to bitcoin.
- In one sentence, what does The Bitcoin Hardware Store aim to achieve for bitcoin users globally?
To make bitcoin accessible to everyone, no matter your language, or economic background.
- Describe the earliest version of The Bitcoin Hardware Store. How did the initial concept evolve into physical stores in El Zonte and Berlin?
The idea started at Adopting Bitcoin 2022, I had such a great experience at my first bitcoin conference but I was sad that it was over so quickly. I wanted to learn more and try out all the new gadgets but I would have had to travel to the next conference destination and I could not afford that.
- Why El Zonte (Bitcoin Beach) and Berlin? How do these communities shape TBHS’s identity?
El Zonte is where the circular economy began and so we thought this would be a perfect place to start, plus i live in El Zonte.
- How do you select hardware (e.g., wallets, miners, nodes) to stock? What criteria ensure quality and security?
The products need to be Bitcoin Only, Open Source, air-gapped.
- How do you handle regulations in El Salvador especially for financial hardware?
Bitcoin is legal tender here, so there are no regulations.
- Are you planning more physical stores, online expansion, or partnerships with existing retailers?
Yes we are considering opening more stores. We believe that every community needs a Bitcoin Hardware Store. This is how we support the idea of hyberbitcoinization.
- How do user insights shape your product roadmap or educational initiatives?
We need to stay on top of the current trends to answer peoples questions. Everytime there is a new product or new protocol. People want to understand the product and if they should be including it into their security stack.
